2 /5 Wen Tung: We had a disappointing brunch experience here (10/11/2025).
First issue — the only bartender was also our server, and he was too busy with drink orders to give us attentive service. Aside from taking our order, he never checked in, and it was difficult to flag him down when we needed something. At one point, another server had to step in to help.
Second issue — my husband’s steak and eggs came out rare when he ordered medium. It’s unclear whether the bartender entered it incorrectly or the kitchen made a mistake, but since the steak was sliced and visibly rare, it never should’ve been served that way if the order was entered correctly.
Third issue — when the kitchen “fixed” it, they reheated the steak slices and brought them back on the same plate, where the scrambled eggs and potatoes were now lukewarm. For a restaurant of this caliber, the entire dish should’ve been remade. Reheating food that’s already been served and putting it back on the same plate is a food safety risk, which is especially disappointing for a restaurant that boasts of being a James Beard Foundation award winner.
Fourth issue — our bartender/server never mentioned the issue to the manager. He delivered the check without an apology or any acknowledgement of what went wrong. I ended up requesting to speak to a manager, and the manager was clearly surprised about everything that happened. To his credit, the manager apologized profusely and comped our entire meal, even though the only menu item I wanted comped was the steak and eggs.
I appreciate how the manager handled it and made things right, but I’m honestly surprised a restaurant with this reputation had so many basic service and food handling issues.

First and foremost, we regret that your service fell short due to our bartender being stretched too thin. While we aim to provide attentive, seamless service no matter the staffing situation, we clearly missed the mark here, and that’s not the standard we hold ourselves to. We’re also very sorry about the mishandled steak order and how it was addressed. Youre absolutely right that a steak ordered medium should never be served rare, and reheating a plated dish, rather than remaking it fresh, is unacceptable—both from a quality and food safety standpoint. Your feedback has prompted a thorough review of our kitchen and service protocols to ensure this doesnt happen again. Regarding the lack of communication between your server and our management team—we completely agree that your concerns should have been acknowledged and escalated sooner. Were glad to hear our manager was able to step in and take corrective action, but that should have happened proactively, not after your request. We deeply appreciate your recognition of how the manager handled the situation, and were equally grateful that you gave us the opportunity to address the issue while you were still here.
