1 /5 Rye Hall: I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at Bonchon in Chinatown was so disappointing that I feel compelled to warn others. From the moment we walked in, things went downhill. We were brought upstairs to be seated, but the stairs were slippery and unsafe. When we reached the second floor, the entire floor was sticky and slippery as well. I mentioned this to the hostess, and she literally laughed. Someone is going to get seriously hurt if this isn’t addressed.
As for the food and service—equally terrible. No one asked what sides or drinks we wanted; we had to tell the server ourselves. We ordered a corn dog and wings, both of which came out burnt to a crisp, greasy, and tasting like they’d been cooked in old oil that hadn’t been changed. The sauce was barely a drizzle and didn’t even coat the chicken.
The rice with the katsu chicken was cold. When I complained, they brought out a new one that was only lukewarm. At this point, it was clear there is a real lack of care in food preparation.
It honestly feels like Bonchon has turned into more of a sports bar, where the food is an afterthought, and the upkeep of the restaurant is just as neglected. Between the unsafe floors, poor service, and inedible food, this place is absolutely not worth your time or money.
I genuinely want a refund. Avoid this location at all costs.
