2 /5 Lauren R: Edit: Thank you for your response. I appreciate the clarification, but I did want to note something that may be helpful for future guests. Our group only came in for wine and never looked at the food menu, so we had no reason to see that policy. At a winery, or at an establishment that focuses on wines, I imagine many guests may not look at the food menu at all, especially if they’re only planning to enjoy drinks.
Because of that, it might be more transparent and helpful to include the check-splitting policy on both menus, or somewhere more prominent, so everyone is aware before ordering. Just a suggestion.
My husband and I visited Turks Head Wines last night with another couple and had an overall okay experience. The interior has a sophisticated feel, and with the Christmas décor it also felt warm and cozy. The wine was decent, and our server was attentive and friendly.
However, I can’t give this place a higher rating because of the way the bill was handled. When it arrived, we were told the check could not be split between us and the other couple. Since my husband and I aren’t big drinkers but still enjoy a glass or two, this meant we ended up paying nearly triple what we should have for our portion. What made it even more frustrating is that there was nothing on their website that I could find indicating that bills cannot be split, so we had no way of knowing this ahead of time.
It was disappointing, and unfortunately it’s the main reason I wouldn’t return.
