Picciocchis Pasta - Scranton (PA)

5 /5 Kevin Morrow Jr.: My girlfriend and I originally had reservations for another restaurant that had to be canceled due to no power. We scrambled for a new place since this was last minute. I really wanted some authentic Italian food. I found this place and am glad I did. The atmosphere was good. We didn’t realize it would be a more upscale venue, we showed up in graphic tees and pants. We were very underdressed because every other person was in dress clothes. They have an overhang above the bar where there’s a singer/piano player who played music throughout our dinner. The service was great. We never had to ask for anything. It was always taken care of before we needed to ask. My girlfriend wanted a moscato, but was unsure which. The chef & owner is a sommelier and recommended a great moscato for her that she loved. Everything we had was great. We tried the meatballs for an appetizer. They were really good and flavorful with good red sauce and pecorino cheese. I then got carbonara, which was the best I’ve had besides in Italy. All the ingredients are imported, or made fresh in house. It was an authentic carbonara, not like most other restaurants do here. The noodles were thick and good. The sauce was flavorful and the guanciale was amazing. My girlfriend got chicken Parmesan with gnocchetti noodles (also recommended by the owner) and 4 cheese sauce. This was also very good. We then wrapped up dinner with dessert. I went with tiramisu, which may have been the best I’ve ever had. My girlfriend then got a pistachio cake which was also great! I’d definitely back. If anyone is looking for good, authentic Italian food, check this place out!

5 /5 Katalina S.: My family and I have been going to Picciocchi’s ever since they opened their first Clarks Summit location. We’ve always felt so welcomed and the food has only gotten better over the years! Coming from out of state, I’m always excited to dine at Picciochi’s whenever I’m back in Scranton. The food is top notch and the flavors are always so well balanced, vibrant, fresh, and DELICIOUS. I always get the Amatriciana but you can’t go wrong with any of their dishes.

5 /5 Brooke Lamberti: Leaving a 5 star review because we truly want this place to thrive and it’s beautifully designed. Menu is great and took us back to our time spent in Italy. Fried scallops were our favorite!!! That said, ingredients are so fresh. Food need salt, bad. My husband and I went back to look at the reviews to see if anyone thought the same, and it is true, the food does taste a bit bland. I’m talking salt during the cooking process to better bring out flavor, not salt added on after. The chef/owner and his family are clearly very passionate and it shows and we would love to see this place to great in Scranton. Keep up the great work, but please salt!!!! My carbonara tasted just like a cream sauce, and my husband’s steak / pasta wasn’t seasoned at all. We totally agree that simple, quality ingredients should speak for themselves, but a little bit more seasoning would amplify everything exponentially! Definitely a must-try place. We will be back!
