2 /5 Josh John: One of the smaller and rougher Ys Ive been to. Most of it likely has nothing to do with the employees, who seemed great, but with funding. What appears to be the old building is split into 4 different businesses now with the Ys main entrance being some little side door. The gym is absolutely diminutive, having one squat rack and one small cable crossover machine. It does have 2 benches but no incline and no shoulder press bench. Dumbbells go up to 100, which is fine, but not impressive for a Y. The entire strength training area (including nautilus/other machines) is maybe 1,000 square feet? Very small. Its basically a home gym.
All of this is fine and not necessarily a complaint, just an observation that its tiny. I do have a complaint, however, and that is that the one non-locker-room toilet that I saw is literally supported by a couple of 2x4s nailed together (see picture). Pretty rough. Will it hold? Well, it did for now. But it looks really awful and unprofessional.
All-in-all this is clearly a failing Y that will probably be shut down eventually. Its sad, as its the only one near Pottstown and its in a great location.
