UPMC Magee-Womens Specialty Services - Farrell (PA)

3 /5 P D: I don’t even really want to write this review because when I used this office when pregnant/for postpartum care I had an excellent experience. But what happened yesterday has me flabbergasted and I think it needs addressed. So 5/5 stars for past care, but 0/10 for the phone call I had with the receptionist yesterday. I have mastitis and spent the majority of the day yesterday unable to leave the couch. That combined with no childcare left me with no choice but to use the UPMC AnywhereCare virtual appointment to get an antibiotic. I had a video chat with a CRNP who is in Pittsburgh who gave me the script and told me that I need to follow up with my gyno for an in-person appointment later this week to have my breast looked at and my symptoms assessed. I called the Farrell office and explained that I had just had a virtual appointment through UPMC AnywhereCare for mastitis and that the provider wants me to have an in-person follow up. The receptionist was stuck on the fact that I didn’t see one of their providers and that she has no clue who I saw. I said several times that I know it wasn’t a local provider, it was a virtual call with someone in Pittsburgh, and that I just need to schedule an in-person follow up. She then says that I’m not even in their system. Weird, because that’s my gyno… Before I could ask if I can still make an appointment even if it’s as a new patient she just says sorry but there is nothing they could do for me. I wouldn’t say that her tone was rude, she was actually nice about it, but I was frustrated that she wasn’t listening to what I was saying and wasn’t willing to help me get an appointment. Hung up super frustrated then called the UPMC office in Hermitage who said that not only am I in the system, she could schedule me at either Hermitage OR Farrell later in the week with the same provider (who I used to see in Farrell). I explained what the receptionist at Farrell said and that I would prefer the Hermitage office now, and this receptionist said that she doesn’t understand why the Farrell office wouldn’t help me or why they would say that I’m not in the system when I am.

5 /5 Isabella Yurko: 2/4/25 I had called the Hermitage location hoping I could get a last minute appointment for today due to only having fridays off of work and I’m in my probationary period. I luckily was able to get today off and was hoping to be seen because I’m a first time mom and my anxiety has been getting the best of me and just needed some reassurance and make sure everything is ok. Unfortunately, the Hermitage location had no availabilities to get me in today. I had called the Farrell location, and I wish I could remember her name, but the receptionist who I had spoke with was absolutely amazing! Not only was she able to get me an appointment for today, but she was super reassuring and didn’t make me feel like I was being a total pain at all for just wanting to make sure my baby was ok. I feel horrible that I don’t remember her name, but I sincerely am so grateful that I had the experience I did with her today. I wish every receptionist was like her

1 /5 C: They completely misdiagnosed the issue after Id given them a detailed medical history. Then, after Id insisted on a test after the medication prescribed obviously didnt work, they again prescribed the incorrect medication for the issue. When I explained I needed a different medication, they were rude, refused to change it, and told me I would need yet another appointment. I can see why I was able to get in within a week. Theyre incompetent. I ended up going to urgent care.

3 /5 Katie Myers: Some people at the front desk was pretty rude. I was late for an appointment due to bad weather and was unable to get my car clean from ice to get there on time. Granted I was very pregnant at the time, so this was not easy. I called them to let them know before my appointment I was having trouble and was told to keep my appointment. Got there within the timeframe I was given and was denied from being seen (ok makes sense, I was late for my appointment). What upset me was I was talked down to by office staff. That was the only time I was late for any of my pregnancy appointments. I will never forget that. So uncalled for. Loved my midwife though. Other people at the front desk were really nice. The lady who was rude to me needs a major attitude check.

5 /5 Hailey B.: Such a wonderful and caring practice! Dr Cynthia is AMAZING. I have very high anxiety, she always makes me feel welcomed and is so cheerful and gentle!
