2 /5 BIG HOSS: this used to be such a solid spot. good atmosphere, great service, decent food (not the most authentic, but delicious and available in every configuration you can imagine). about fall 2025 i had a bad meal here, with no regulars working the floor, and chalked it up to a bad day.
went in recently with friends and was shocked. my food was near inedible. it didn’t arrive how i ordered it, nor am i even sure it was WHAT i ordered. i’ve had this particular dish thousands of times in mexican restaurants from new york city to san francisco to tijuana and back and i’ve never had it served up chewy in a thick sauce. even the salsa was bad—it used to be thick and spicy, but this time it was weirdly sweet and watery.
the server tried, but spoke neither ingles nor español with any fluency. and the music was not appropriate for a restaurante mexicano… atmospheric AI slop that could not be identified.
anyway, confirmed that there’s new management in the place. i didn’t even see a single mexican working, and i guarantee no cocinero made my dinner. i will not be back, please beware—if you enjoyed GUADALAJARA, this is not the same place (their facebook page is even called guadalajara 2.0). oh and they raised every single price on the menu.
