Julia: The best gym Ive ever been a part of! They have all the equipment and weights I need and the staff are super helpful and friendly, as are the other gym goers
    Fitness Works Philadelphia - Philadelphia
Bronwyn H: Fitness Works is my second home. My favorite thing about it is that this is a no-nonsense place to train, everything is well maintained and people are respectful. Nothing is overly fancy or hyped up. For the size of the space they offer an impressive variety of stuff! There are selections of dumbbells on both main floors and some in the classroom, weight machines on both main floors, plenty of cardio equipment, a very nice pool, and there is even an area for boxing training. The classroom is large with pretty decent mirrors and you can use it for stretching etc. when there isnt a session going on. This probably wouldnt be a first pick for more advanced powerlifting or Olympic lifting since the space is a bit limited with just 3 squat racks and 2 deadlift platforms. Great place for general training and bodybuilding though. You can buy snacks and drinks at the front desk too. My only critique is that I wish they were open later and that there was a second chest fly machine.
    City Fitness - Philadelphia
    City Fitness
Jim Jackson: City Fitness has become my third place. After taking some time off from the gym for about 3 years, and having back surgery I was very intimidated to go back to a gym. City fitness made it easy, especially with the Thrive program. I do three classes a week with Abby. Abby is beyond amazing, she authentically cares for your fitness health and makes every class so fun. For the first time in a long time I wake up looking forward to working out. Joseph at the front desk is awesome and will always welcome you by name. I cant express how great the staff is here.
Arena Fitness & Performance - Philadelphia
Erin Antoniak: Joining Arena has been the best decision I made in 2025. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and motivating -- they know how to push you while still making every workout fun and approachable, despite using all different types of equipment... most of which I would normally shy away from on my own! The classes are tough and they will definitely challenge you, but can easily be modified to any level. But the best aspect is the community. Arena radiates such a positive, encouraging environment and you can really feel that everyone is there to support each other. A gym that delivers results AND feels like home.
    Leverage Fitness - Philadelphia
Rebecca A: Would highly recommend Leverage to anyone looking for a great gym in Philly (or a gift, because why not?)! I had a great experience during my time there this year and really built my confidence in strength training. The sessions are challenging (in the best way) and the semi-private option gives the benefit of fun group sessions while the small group size allows for a tailored experience where you still receive guidance and feedback on form from the coaches. Truly a welcoming community. Great attention to detail on the part of the coaches, well-designed programs and well worth the investment in my opinion. Im traveling a lot more for work and would certainly miss this space!
    Sweat Fitness - Philadelphia
emily hoffman: Personal trainer visiting south philly here. I went to sweat a few times during my visit, I can’t say enough good things about it, if you just want a gym where you can bang out a workout without a scene? Flashing lights, and pounding music, you just want to go in, and workout. This is your place. There was no waiting for equipment. Plenty of dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, and machines. A solid gym, no frills and no party. A gym. Period. Definitely looking forward to my next south Philly visit now that I know sweat is there!
    365 Fitness & Boxing Loft - Philadelphia
Diana Sparkles: I have the best most caring coach in the whole boxing world. He pushes me to my limits and makes sure I go above and beyond my sport’s boundaries. Thank you Coach Wood. I definitely recommend taking a class with him.
    LA Fitness - Philadelphia
    LA Fitness
sheena Ellison: The female locker room was not cleaned all day! I went to the front desk and they said it was no female to clean the locker room. So management wasn’t smart enough to close the locker from for 30 minutes to clean up! When I arrived you have a manger on his home and told me to talk to one of the 3 people at the front desk. This is unacceptable this membership is not cheap to be giving customers this kind of service.
New York Sports Club - Philadelphia
    New York Sports Club
Mackenzie Ogle: Super disappointed - rates continue to skyrocket. Dont sign up... within two years my rate has gone from 49.99 to 69.99 a month. On top of that you pay for the pool separate which also goes up each year (like $350-$400 additional dollars for about 3 months of good weather). You end up spending about $120-220 more than each prior year on your membership from dues increases. And no amenities get improved - steam room has been out of commission for a few years (on and off it will re-open, but always dirty and dark). The classes are more than mediocre - only a couple are a real workout. I have been a member for a few years - it has recently started to feel like they are taking advantage of their loyal customers. I would rather pay a bit more for a high quality gym and get the benefits than pay this high rate for things you could get at retro fitness or planet fitness at a much more affordable rate.
    On Track Fitness - Philadelphia
Yasmine Ramachandra: Angela is an amazing trainer and is great for people of any fitness level and with any injury / disability. She’s the best part of the gym!
