5 /5 Nicole S: I cannot even find the right words to express how greatful I am to have started at Move Better. I recommend them a million times over. So a short background, I have always been the type of person that put everyone else first, rarely thinking about myself. Recently, the realization hit me like a ton of bricks that I needed to make some changes in my life. All of a sudden, things were happening to me that I just didnt think ever would. I mean do we ever think that we will hear our doctors say words like "high cholesterol", "venous clots", "morbid obesity", "stress test", "sleep apnea." It was becoming scary. I could not walk up a flight of stairs without being out of breath. I had zero energy, and every joint in my body ached. My physical limitations definitely started to impact me mentally. It got to the point where getting out of bed was a chore. One day, I just decided I had enough of feeling the way I did. I needed to make some changes and fast...for my kids, and for me. I started trying to eat better, and lost a bit of weight on my own. I knew I needed more help though, so I started looking up gym memberships. Now, I deal with major social anxiety, so the thought of walking into a huge crowded gym not knowing what on earth I was doing, was way too much and just made me cringe. I knew I needed smaller, so I started to google personal trainers near me. Move Better popped up, and I clicked on the link for their website. They offered small classes geared toward people over 40, personal training and individualized attention in a supportive environment. That sounded amazing to me, so I made the leap and met with Ken. He was extremely easy to talk to, and made me feel so welcome and completely at ease. We talked about my goals, and what I had hoped to gain. Then, after evaluating my physical capabilities through some stretches and exercises, we decided to try small group classes. I got to try a class out first to see how I liked it. It went really well, so I signed up. On my second class I got my tee shirt, and he told me "welcome to the family." I thought that was so nice, and also thought "this is exactly what I have been looking for." From what I have experienced so far, I can say it truly is a family there. The other fitness coaches and other members are so supportive and helpful. I cannot say enough good things. My journey has been short so far. I have only been going for about a month, but I have my 8th class tomorrow, and I am not lying when I say I can already feel improvements!! For example, when I first started, I could not run in place and bring my knees up. I could march, but not run. Now I can run!!! I know it doesnt sound like much when you read it, but when you feel that change in your bodys capabilities, it is HUGE. My review is long winded I know, but this is a big step for me, and I wanted to give credit where credit was do. Move Better is more than just a gym. Its family, encouragement, accountability, and support. Going just makes me want to go again, and it makes me try harder to improve myself. When I have a question, someone is always there. When an exercise is a bit much, they tailor it to something I can do, so I can work my way up. If my form is wrong, a coach is there to tell me and help me correct it. I never would have recieved that anywhere else. Thank you everyone at Move Better. Joining was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I look forward to where this takes me.
