Philly Fitness of Overbrook Park - Philadelphia
M B: Big open gym. Lots of equipment. Lots of room. Never too busy. Well maintained and clean Loss of 1 star is for the following reasons: 1. Not all but There are a few trainers here (I don’t believe are employed by the gym) training clients who feel they have a priority over gym members. 2. They allow filming. Too many people with cameras set up taking too much time on equipment. I once was asked to move my workout because the lighting was better in the area I was. I did not move. Another time a camera was set up between the 2 towers on the turf and I received nasty looks because I did see the camera between the rowers and the guys working out 10 yards away. I know they won’t do it but I would love to see filming banned in the gym
Earn Everything Gym - Philadelphia
Timothy McMonagle: Gym is super clean and has everything you could need out of a gym. It is never overly crowded and has a good gym community who keep it clean and organized. No one taking unnecessary amount of time on a machine. And Donnie takes good care of anyone and everyone and ensures people who don’t take care of the equipment will be addressed with respect.

lin: Whenever I’m in Philly, this gym’s my go- to for travel gains. Clean, spacious, great music, and the staff hooked me up with a trial pass fast and a yummy protein shake. I’ll be back!
Evolve Fitness PHL - Philadelphia
Cassandra Schmid: I can’t say enough great things about this gym! The coaches are knowledgeable, encouraging, and genuinely care about helping you improve—whether you’re a beginner or experienced. The workouts are always challenging but scalable, and the community is what keeps me coming back. I’ve never felt stronger, both physically and mentally!
City Fitness - Philadelphia
City Fitness
Ritton Anthony (Tone): I attended the Fishtown location…and truthfully I must say it is One of, if not the most admirable gym I’ve ever worked out in, and I’ve been involved with quite a large number of gyms from high school 17 years ago all the way up until now. I have not one bad thing to say in regards to City Fitness, I joined immediately and got my friend to join an hour later…Very clean, impressive overall layout, full of awesome members who all have proper gym etiquette…wide selections of classes, phenomenal smoothie bar…much more..even just approaching the entrance, the whole storefront wall is one big opening with a lounge and the smoothie bar right as you walk in. Hats off to everyone involved in putting this place together! Gym is surely hard to compete with.
Iron Works Fitness River Wards - Philadelphia
Julia: The best gym Ive ever been a part of! They have all the equipment and weights I need and the staff are super helpful and friendly, as are the other gym goers
Fitness Works Philadelphia - Philadelphia
Bronwyn H: Fitness Works is my second home. My favorite thing about it is that this is a no-nonsense place to train, everything is well maintained and people are respectful. Nothing is overly fancy or hyped up. For the size of the space they offer an impressive variety of stuff! There are selections of dumbbells on both main floors and some in the classroom, weight machines on both main floors, plenty of cardio equipment, a very nice pool, and there is even an area for boxing training. The classroom is large with pretty decent mirrors and you can use it for stretching etc. when there isnt a session going on. This probably wouldnt be a first pick for more advanced powerlifting or Olympic lifting since the space is a bit limited with just 3 squat racks and 2 deadlift platforms. Great place for general training and bodybuilding though. You can buy snacks and drinks at the front desk too. My only critique is that I wish they were open later and that there was a second chest fly machine.
City Fitness - Philadelphia
City Fitness
Jim Jackson: City Fitness has become my third place. After taking some time off from the gym for about 3 years, and having back surgery I was very intimidated to go back to a gym. City fitness made it easy, especially with the Thrive program. I do three classes a week with Abby. Abby is beyond amazing, she authentically cares for your fitness health and makes every class so fun. For the first time in a long time I wake up looking forward to working out. Joseph at the front desk is awesome and will always welcome you by name. I cant express how great the staff is here.
Arena Fitness & Performance - Philadelphia
Erin Antoniak: Joining Arena has been the best decision I made in 2025. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and motivating -- they know how to push you while still making every workout fun and approachable, despite using all different types of equipment... most of which I would normally shy away from on my own! The classes are tough and they will definitely challenge you, but can easily be modified to any level. But the best aspect is the community. Arena radiates such a positive, encouraging environment and you can really feel that everyone is there to support each other. A gym that delivers results AND feels like home.
