  • YardOut Fit Club Philly - Philadelphia
Antanette Wise: I have been going to Yardout just short of a year and I have enjoyed my experience. Ron is a knowledgeable trainer and he motivates and pushes me to be my best so that I can reach my fitness goals. More importantly, he ensures my technique and form are correct to avoid injury. I love the culture and atmosphere because everyone motivates and encourages each other during workouts. In fact, I’ve built many relationships since attending the gym. If you’re looking for a fitness club that caters to all levels, offers a supportive community, and prioritizes personalized training, I would recommend Yardout Fit Club to anyone trying to achieve their fitness goals!
    Orangetheory Fitness - Philadelphia
Nicole Hinterberger: My home studio. OTF has been a mainstay in my fitness routine since gyms reopened during COVID. I started there wearing masks and working out next to people with plastic barricades - and have stayed ever since. I needed a consistent group workout following Flywheel center city (and the company overall) going bankrupt during COVID. I worked and rode at flywheel as my go to fitness establishment for work, workouts, stress relief, and socialization for 7 years. Without it, I knew I needed an alternative. OTF is it! It’s a great workout. Every class is consistently challenging but doable. As a physical therapist, I like how many different facets of a person’s wellbeing OTF hits. They check every box - speed, strength, coordination, balance, stretching, mindfulness - and they do a great job offering form cues and alternatives like elliptical or bike instead of treadmill, walk instead of run, and different variations of floor exercise. I would never work as hard as I do on my own as I do in class with an instructor and others around me. Thanks for the push!! I recommend OTF to so many patients and friends. I’ve recruited my mom as a member and am working on getting my husband in for at least one class ☺️ I like that every class is different. The coaches are friendly and motivating. The studio is conveniently located. And the app is easy to use to track your stats and book classes.
    Barrys Philadelphia - Philadelphia
Chad Burger: I was in Philly with a group for a leadership conference and a few of us decided to sign up for a Barrys session. When we arrived at this Barrys location they told us the session would be free as many of us have not participated in a Barrys training before. I was unsure what to expect for the class, but was pleasantly surprised with how the class was organized and well-structured. For the workout, there was a floor group and a treadmill group. It was divided into two rounds of each (floor and treadmill) with the participants in the class alternating with each other. The room was dark with red lights and lively music to keep everyone going. Dylan instructed the class and did an excellent job explaining the exercises and kept the energy high throughout the workout. There is a smoothie bar at the front where you can get many different flavors to refuel after your workout. I will definitely sign up for another Barrys class and recommend it to anyone who is serious about keeping in shape. Thank you for the great workout and making it free for many of us for our first time.
The Summit Personal Training Studios - Philadelphia
Sarah Johnshoy: I worked out at Summit for almost a year and a half and I can’t recommend them enough! This gym has played a huge role in keeping me consistent and getting back into my fitness journey. The facility is clean with amazing equipment and great facilities. Paige was my trainer and she is incredibly dedicated to each of her clients bringing so much positivity and energy to every session. From day one, she was incredibly supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping me reach my goals. She helped me get in shape for my wedding and, more importantly, made me feel strong, confident, and empowered throughout the journey. Paige listens, challenges you in the best way, and always celebrates your wins, big or small. I’m so grateful for my time at Summit! Thank you Paige and all the amazing staff at Summit!
    Equinox Rittenhouse - Philadelphia
Johnny Novo: My ex-girlfriend lives in Philly, and Im currently in the process of mounting an all-time campaign to get her back. This may be way too much for Google Reviews, but Ive been giving my heart and soul on here for years. Why stop now. The Queen lives in Philly, and agreed to meet me for dinner on a Wednesday after a few weeks of me groveling and taking grenades. I took the 5am train down from NYC, and worked out of this recently opened Philly Equinox all damn day. Its beautiful in here. An ample amount of space, state of the art equipment, beautiful locker rooms, a sensational work space that overlooks Rittenhouse Park, a food/smoothie bar, etc. I bodied 3 vanilla protein smoothies and a couple pieces of almond butter toast throughout the day to stay locked in. Picture me, in this Equinox coworking space, listening to XO Tour Life on repeat for hours visualizing how this dinner would go. I dont know why that song gets me so locked in, but if I was in the UFC, this would be my walkout song. I left my bags in this Equinox as I left for the dinner, and I didnt come back until 15 minutes after close, as the dinner went decently well. To me, if I had to get a hotel and stay the night in Philly to get my bags the next morning, that was money well spent. Put that on the game card. However, there was still someone working and they let me in and had my bags there ready. I explained my situation and they laughed, and asked how it went. Thats real. I got my bags and headed to the train station to catch my midnight train back to NYC. This is what life is all about. Shoutout to the Philly Equinox for being there for me and providing air support while I was in the trenches. I will never forget what you did for me. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__
    Planet Fitness - Philadelphia
    Planet Fitness
Adham Elnashai: Planet Fitness is the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. Period. Ive cancelled my membership a year ago after having to beg them to cancel it when they insisted that I visit the branch I registered at. I live in Los Angeles lol. After they finally agreed to cancel it on the phone I felt so relieved, only to realize A YEAR later that I’m still being billed. I contacted them again to cancel and apparently my cancellation never went through and I had to re-cancel. Afterwards, I still found charges on my card. So I contacted my bank and they stopped allowing payment to get processed. Now I just received an email from debt collection about a missed payment to Planet Fitness. Seriously. Watch out for your money. They are RUTHLESS SCAMMERS.
    Movement Callowhill - Philadelphia
    Movement Callowhill
Elena C: Honestly half of the reason I got my membership was to attend Caroline’s yoga class, she is AMAZING! love the climbing and the people are always friendly. Only knocking down one star because they need more - and experienced - route setters. Complex routes tend to be inaccessible for short climbers. The grading - at least in the top rope area - is very inconsistent so I just climb what seems fun. However, the climbing community is pretty inclusive and awesome and this location is easy to get to so I highly recommend!
    Fight Club Philadelphia - Philadelphia
Jessica Storment: Coach Mike is amazing, so is the rest of his staff. If you want someone to hold you accountable while pushing you to your greatest potential, I highly recommend you come here. There’s an amazing sense of community and support. Great class energy! It’s also a fun way to get shredded and let out some aggression.
    LA Fitness - Philadelphia
    LA Fitness
Jeff Cullinan: Love the staff here but everything else is trash. Just tried to go at 5am when they open. The girl who normally opens at 5 am quit last week and management didn’t find anyone to cover so a bunch of members including myself and my fiancé were left standing out in the rain. The basketball court has had a bubble in the door for at least two years. The treadmills were broken for about 3 months to start this year. Whoever is in charge of upholding the quality standards for LA fitness needs to do their job. Update - 9.28.25 Walked into the men’s locker room / Bathroom / Sauna and it was DISGUSTING. See picture below.
    Union Fitness - Pittsburgh
Ian Hunter: I won’t belabor the point about management moving the gym in a different direction, that is their choice. This gym used to have a strong community of lifters who trained for various iron sports. If you are looking for a place to power lift and you want to train alone for the most part you are fine. The equipment remains largely fine and better than most commercial gyms but in need of some more regular maintenance. However, the direction the gym seems to want to move into is more of a boutique/commercial gym that doesn’t cater towards athletes who like to train seriously. Instead its’ specialty bars, monos, etc will be unused. The machines that it does have are limited and hotel gym quality. Frankly this gym seems to be going through an identity crisis right now. It will be interesting to see how it shakes out in a year. Either way I won’t be there to see it as it has lost the community and attitude towards training that made it one of the better Pittsburgh gyms over the past 6-7 years.
