1 /5 John L: I’ve been going to this Plato’s Closet for years, even though it’s a bit of a drive, because it used to be one of the better locations in the area — especially for men’s clothing. That’s no longer the case.
Over the past couple of years, the buying process has become completely unreasonable. I’ve brought in high-quality, well-kept pieces from good brands that they suddenly “don’t want,” while offering laughably low payouts on items they do take… only to turn around and sell them for much more. The whole setup feels like a ripoff.
What really kills it, though, is the taste level. The selection in the store isn’t cute anymore, and it’s hard to take the buying decisions seriously when the girls behind the counter deciding what’s “in” don’t seem to have much personal style themselves. This place used to feel curated, now it just feels careless.
It’s no longer worth going out of your way. I wouldn’t recommend it anymore.
