1 /5 Maddie Steph: This Gabe’s in Dickson City is flat-out disgusting. The second I walked in, I was hit with a smell that made me want to turn right back around — some awful mix of must, sweat, and who-knows-what. The place looks and feels like it hasn’t been cleaned or organized in years. Clothes were everywhere — not just on the racks, but literally piled across the floors, like someone just dumped them out of a truck. At one point I actually threw a hanger out of frustration because there were hundreds of them scattered all over the ground, catching my cart and tangling around my feet every three steps.
The aisles are so tiny and claustrophobic it’s unbearable. I’m 5’4 and 140 pounds, and I still had clothes brushing against both of my shoulders constantly as I tried to squeeze through. Heaven forbid you try to step aside for another shopper — there’s simply nowhere to go. You just awkwardly bump into racks or get tangled in yet another trail of hangers.
The entire experience was overwhelming, smelly, and miserable. Between the chaos, the clutter, and the suffocating aisles, this place feels more like a hoarder’s basement than a store. I left feeling stressed, irritated, and honestly grossed out.
