3 /5 Michael B: Feeling down hearted I figured , the hole in the wall what looks like from out side is the last option. so went in with very low expectations. way way low. BUT, The menu suggested that I was a bit harsh in my judgement. So while I waited for the wait staff to get to me.. 25 mins later. ( Look, At this point I was tired and hunrgy, I wasnt moving) a young lady in Dr. Martins realized we were they and decided to see how she could help. Since I have almost 30 minutes to see plate come out of the kitchen and can tell by the smell this was NOT a bar dive food joint. even though it was in full cosplay of one. I jumped out there and desided to feed my face. i asked what the market price on the rib eye was. and was informed due to thos ebeing so expensive, the place had nonein stock.. hopes for a good meal were dropping again. But i order the crab bisque . Sirlon, and Island Pork sandwhich. .. What? I said I was hungry! So the crab bisque comes out.. with sliced of garlic bread. I was show the neatest magic trick. If you dib garlic bread in crab bisque.. it taste just like grill cheese. Not sure thats a good thing or not. But the soup DID have crab in it. I think I had like three pieces. and it was orange water. The butter they used was the liquid resturant butter in the soup. you know they kind you use to give the food on the grill a butter flavor.. No.. you can believe it NOT butter. so much oil foating on the top. I hear the US military might be bringing some freedom. and it was at this moment , I realized I might have went shopping on a empty stomach... IYKYK. But again This places brings the ups and downs like Rocky 6, The Island pork was a true. where has this been all my life. The sweet heat of the sauce was amazing. and it wasnt a farm boy suace that drips everywhere like your sandwhich was some animal getting bled on the plate. The flavor was soaked into every strand of pork. The bun was fresh. It was crazy yummy. Now the steak on the other hand was a different story. While I make my own in a few way. and a bit of a teak snob. Bc well . three sear your steak while dipping it in whiskey and sauce. you get a to be a bit of a steak snob. But This steak. i shoudl have know something was up, when the lady didnt even offer steak sauce. ( you need sauce, its not made right) The cut of meat was to be honest to good to be in this hole in the wall. Placing how the meat was tender and almost melted in your mouth would be a injustice. It was all that and more. It was in a word. perfect. the slight grilled flavor with their salt and pepper was amazing. I really wanted to go to the kitchen and ask them .. How.. bc the salt pepper thing on a steak at room temp i can never get this kind of flavor. and a bit jealous. that i paid for more expensive steaks, that tasted worst. So skip the crab bisque and get the steak. Now the fries are a whoel new story. I know some folks like their fries cruchy like they are bitting into a salted stick.. Me, i like the flavor of REAl potatoes. and this places fries were like beach boardwalk fries. WAY YUMMY>..
Now the bad.. As if the sports playing , small dinning area, slow staff wasnt enough. The bathrooms.. were on par with a NJ side road gas station. yeah.. that bad. floors sticky, mens not really good for anyone in a wheel chair, pro warned. I mean dont get me wrong. it could have been a bad night on cleaning.. at 6 pm. But if you have a blue special parking pass, this place might not be for you.
But for the avg folks. It was good. the prices.. for being in a college town, which is the only excuse i can come with for prices this high. It was i guess fair. But the food. OTHER THEN THE CRAB SOUP. was beyond worth it. I dont usally give tips to the cook. But i did here. And for me, That says alot. so get a chance. stop in.
