HOSTILE SERVER EXPERIENCE
My three friends and I visited the place hoping for a pleasant dinner, but unfortunately, the service we received completely ruined our evening.
Initial Issue:
I ordered the Chickpeas (veg) from the "Platters" section. The menu states that "Platters" are "Served with basmati rice...", while the Chickpeas dish description doesn’t include rice as an ingredient, I reasonably assumed, as is common in many restaurants, that the rice would be served on the side, separate from the main. When my order arrived, the rice was mixed directly into the chickpeas.
Service Failure:
When I politely inquired about the dish and mentioned my assumption, the server’s response was incredibly poor and unprofessional.
Rude and Dismissive Reaction:
Her initial reaction was, "So what do I do about it?" delivered in a very rude and confrontational manner.
Unwilling resolution:
After I suggested she could help resolve it, she reluctantly (with clear exasperation, negative body language, and face-making) took the plate. When I noted that separating the rice might not fully resolve the issue, she thrashed the plate down in an aggressive display of anger before finally agreeing to remake the dish. This behavior was shocking and made me feel terrible.
Incomplete Remake:
When the plate returned, she had only served the re-heated chickpeas in a smaller plate, omitting the beets, carrots, and greens salad that are specifically mentioned as part of the platter service.
Continued Hostility:
Upon trying to thank her for the corrected dish, she signaled her annoyance with a hostile "what else do you need" gesture, making it clear she was displeased with having to serve us.
Lack of Attentiveness:
This overall poor interaction was compounded by the fact that we had difficulty getting her attention earlier. We were waiting to call her over (about the rice issue), and she appeared to actively ignore us even after another server intervened.
While I appreciate that we were guided to a parking spot earlier and that she accepted our order close to closing time (around 30 minutes before), if the kitchen or staff are unwilling to serve customers near closing, it would be much better to politely refuse the order than to provide this kind of hostile and demeaning service after accepting it.
Hospitality requires patience and a welcoming attitude, neither of which were displayed. The rudeness completely overshadowed the food and ruined what should have been an enjoyable evening. I sincerely hope management addresses this serious issue of customer service.
