3 /5 Rich McGervey: Seems like a decent place, however we were less than thrilled with the food. The taco salad was solid and my wife enjoyed it, but my crab salad was imitation crab and very disappointing. I also asked for onion, heavy onion I said. I got no onion at all. Just pollock (fake crab), some lettuce, cheese and pieces of tomato. We ordered to go and I picked up an took back to our hotel, so we’re unable to address our concerns. But no onion and no real crab is disappointing. Checking the menu it’s spelled “crab” as well, not “krab” or krab sticks or something that would hint you’re getting fake crap.
And for those who don’t like my review, there is a HUGE difference.
Imitation crab (surimi) is primarily made from Alaska Pollock, a mild white fish, which is deboned, washed into a paste, and then blended with starches, egg whites, flavorings, and sugar to mimic real crabs taste and texture. While it uses real fish, its a highly processed seafood product, often containing only tiny amounts of actual crab extract for flavoring.
Sounds gross doesn’t it? It’s not terrible, but I would never order it.
We may try again when we are in the area. But since there are so many other good restaurants, and they couldn’t even bother to add the requested onions, maybe not.
