Broken Axe Brew House - Lock Haven (PA)

5 /5 Jason Svrcek: We stopped at Broken Axe on our way to State College. Glad we did! Fried chicken sandwich, mac & cheese, Caesar wrap, fries, all excellent. We visited on a Wednesday night and it felt like a weekend. The vibe was lively but very chill. Our servers were attentive and everything came out quick and hot. The beer selection was better than some places twice as big. Really great hidden gem.

5 /5 Susan Johnson: Long day on the road. Found this great pub near our hotel. Food was great! Service was great! If you ever stop in Lock Haven you should check this place out. 27 beers on tap and very reasonably priced!!!

3 /5 Matt Ammann: Ive been here twice. First time the food was very good and they had a blueberry beer that was fantastic. Second time I was in town I went right back and the food was good but my whole dinner was overshadowed by the fact that I had to sit at the bar and listen to the large bearded man brag to all the other employees about how much he loved turning away large parties and families if they tried to sit down and eat with someone under 21....they do not have signs anywhere stating the no one under 21 rule and he turned away a party of 6 and a party of 8, loudly within 15 minutes of each other while the place was empty. It was a very bizzare experience, he was quite rude, and because of that I do not think I will be back. If the large bearded man is not the owner, I suggest the owners fire him. The large bearded man is bad for business.

4 /5 P Harper: If you’re ever in Lock Haven and looking for a laid-back spot with tons of beer options, Broken Axe Brew House is it. The place has a cool tavern vibe with a huge selection of taps on draft—perfect if you’re into craft beer. The food was just as impressive. I had the haddock tacos, and they were amazing—fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. My cousin had the Philly and couldn’t stop raving about it. Great food, great drinks, and a chill atmosphere. Definitely a gem in this small town!
