1 /5 Alexander: (I recommend you READ THIS if you are going to this Gym on evening schedule). I have been a member of YMCA for several years in the past, in 2 different states. I recently renewed my membership but this thrusday night, I had the most dissapointing and disgusting experience ever at a YMCA location. I went there with my son, who just moved to the city, and we received the most rude, unprofessional and disrespectfull treatment that I have ever experienced from any personnel of this valuable institution. Despite what was informed to me at YMCA when I renewed the membership, and confirmed to my by a YMCA supervisor, the lady at the front desk stopped me at the entrance and talked to me in a VERY unpolite, rude, and even agressive manner. She did not let me talk and insisted that I had to pay IN ADVANCE for the month that I had until the 21 of NOVEMBER to pay, "you owe YMCA 34 dollars", she said, "YOU PAY NOW or you are not going to the gym tonigh". After I made this compulsive payment, she then tried to stop my son from using the gym, arguing that I did not have a familly membership, which I have. This lady was really rude, unpolite, and I think tried to humilate us with no reason. But waht I regreat the most is the negative impression that this very unprofessional attitude caused on my minor son, who is barely getting to know the city of Reading and does not want to comeback to YMCA now. I must say that I do not think -and I hope- that this attitude responds to the policies and standards of an institution as valuable as YMCA, specially towards inmigrants. But I do advise whoever read this, so they do know what to expect there, even in front of their children.
