  • Main Line Health Fitness & Wellness Center - Glen Mills
Lauren Sweeney: I joined this gym for the pools, stayed for the cool classes, sauna, non-judgmental vibe, no videoing anywhere policy, very kind staff, and the best trainer ever (Emilianne P.) Look, I’m an old lady. I go to the gym to do old lady stuff, not listen to 100 blaring tvs, loud EDM, or be made fun of by college girls, which happened at another gym repeatedly in this area. MLHFC is old people and family friendly. Yes, the weight area on the first floor is a bit small but it has almost everything and is only crowded at the usual expected times. The variety of classes offered is great - I got to do all kinds of things I never did before - the ballet and pilates-inspired classes are especially amazing, I enjoyed the bike classes, the weight and dance-inspired ones too, and the instructors have all been phenomenal. Plenty of treadmills, tons of machines, lots of accessories like balls bars and bands, they have a Jacob’s Ladder, and the stretching area is really useful for me. But for me, it’s the vibe of the place that led me to rejoin post-chemo. Gyms can be intimidating and that’s why I didn’t set foot in one for years after those nasty girls pointed and laughed at my fat a** trying to get in shape. MLHFC is filled with ages and bodies of all kind, including older people who may be in physical rehab. There’s no peacocking, no rude people flinging weights for views, everyone wears normal gym clothes, and it’s mostly just a bunch of normal suburban people of all ages and walks of life trying to feel healthy. Patrons are friendly and helpful but you can also just zone out with headphones alone and nobody bothers you. I am bald and kind of unpleasant looking right now and I don’t get a second glance there as compared to being out in public in other places. For me one of the best things about it is there’s an Urgent Care on the same floor!! I threw out my back in a class once and the staff helped me right down to UC. From reading other reviews, I know experiences differ but mine has been positive. I ended my membership when I was too sick to continue going, and it was super quick and easy. I do hear the issue with the personal training/unable to refund if you leave the gym. This happened to me too, was a big bummer and a financial OUCH for me at the time, but I gifted my remaining sessions to someone else through my trainer and I hope they got some joy and health from them. So if you are looking for a chill gym with a lot of amenities for the price (the two warmed pools, lap pool and sauna are worth the money alone for me), try it out!
West Chester Weightlifting - West Chester
alexis Harvey-White: So grateful I joined West Chester Weightlifting! As a CrossFitter, I needed a place to improve my strength and technique and this gym delivered. The one-on-one coaching has taken me to the next level. The coaches are skilled, supportive, and make the space feel like family. Everyone cheers each other on, creating a positive and encouraging environment for all levels. As someone with a busy schedule, I love that the workouts are programmed for you. Just show up, focus, and grow. Highly recommend to anyone. If you’re looking for a gym that will push you, support you, and make you feel at home, this is the place!
Premier Personal Training, Inc. - West Chester
Lisa Bice: Trainers are great-very knowledgeable, interested in my safety and progress and constantly tailoring and adjusting my workouts to keep me healthy and motivated. I feel very comfortable among the mix of clients--a variety of genders, ages and fitness levels. Premier is both for people with serious strength goals and folks who just want to stay strong as they age. Setting my own time to work out is convenient and scheduling with a trainer makes it unlikely that I will skip a workout.
    Anytime Fitness - Wind Gap
Leo Santini: The best gym around, very clean, professional staff, pleasant crowd, new professional equipment, they are also extremely adding more adding features, expanding and doubled the club size, so proud of this place and the owners, if you care about your body and overall health ; you should sign up with AF ASAP
    Paramount Sports Complex - Palmyra
Warren Gramm: So thankful for this place and all of their amazing trainers! The classes are the best for adults of all ability levels and they have plenty of great machines and free weights.
    MorGainz Fitness Somerset - Somerset
Brian Duff: This would be a great local gym if they maintained the equipment. For example, five of the seven treadmills are completely broken or have issue such as the inclines don’t work. Other equipment is repaired with duct tape.
    F45 Training Royersford - Royersford
Dan Samarin: Great full body HIIT workouts in a high energy environment! Classes and exercises change so you don’t have to worry about variety or intensity. Very happy to have found this gym!
iRoy Multi Sport Complex - Collegeville
Ashley Clark: I wish I read the IRoy volleyball reviews from other parents before signing up. They are all true and would have saved us a lot of time and money. The facility itself is great. Clean and well maintained. However, the volleyball program itself leaves much to be desired. We did not realize that try outs are private because there are no cuts made. It is a new program pulling from a small pool of players and in previous years, they have not had enough players for each team and had to issue refunds. It is convenient that they host many tournaments at home but the most competitive local teams (Integrity, Synergy, etc.) do not attend. You would think that playing lower level teams would mean more winning but that is not the case either due to staffing issues. Teams are coached almost entirely by a personal trainer with no previous volleyball coaching experience (owner, who other reviewers have described accurately) and high school students. Due to this, instruction is ineffective at best and deeply concerning at worst. The focus on running and working out is not volleyball specific and not beneficial on the court. As other parents have shared, it has also led to injuries. Basically, it is an expensive rec league. You will likely see an unkind and accusatory response from the owner here trying to place blame elsewhere as with the other responses but this has been our family’s experience with our daughter on U16. We took her out of her season early because the program refused to hire an adult volleyball coach with previous experience and we requested a refund. The girls are great and have a lot of potential but there is much that needs to change in order for iRoy Dreamers volleyball to be everything it claims it is and for it to become a winning program.
Stride Spin And Fitness - Phoenixville
AJ Lu: Entering into my fitness and health era. I really hoped to find a studio for me…not sure if stride is it. Pros: I love the hot plates class and the instructor Amanda is amazing. She really focuses on Pilates principles and I always leave feeling great. The members are all nice and welcoming. Cons: 1. The 7:00 am class for hot Pilates reform is never heated- but only that class with that specific instructor so you don’t get what you pay for. 2. At a 4:30 class my babysitter called me and I had to step aside to make sure everything was okay and was gone for no more than 2 mins and got locked out of class. No one at front desk and I was stuck wondering for 30 mins until class ended. When I did get back in to get my beholding and told the instructor what happened she look at me like I had two heads and said “Oh.” Locking for safety is great but please give us a heads up. 3. I signed up for class pass after doing their new member trial for 4 classes. So I paid the monthly class pass fee booked a few classes. Instead of checking me in under the class pass I booked they were charging me as a walk in. I was playing for the walk in classes AND my class pass until I realized it the second time. I was also marked absent for one of these classes passes and charged a $12 fee by class pass. It was a mess and I’m still not sure how it happened. But when finding a long term studio or fitness center I understand mistakes will happen we are only human and they took care of these issues when presented so keep that in mind. My review is more so to hopefully allow them feedback to make some changes.
    Orangetheory Fitness - Royersford
Mike Kajak: There are many gyms out there, but then there is Orange Theory. Ive learned that it takes a lot of effort to motivate myself to get to the gym if its like a planet fitness, LA fitness, Rascals, etc. But OTF, I realized it was more of a family endeavor, and the people who come to classes are some of the most friendly and inclusive individuals in my area. I came in as a very novice person to strength training and intense cardiovascular workouts. But the coaches are amazing with motivating one to push themselves, rather than be concerned about what level others are at while pushing ones self to get to the next milestone. The staff from the front of the house, back of the house, and the numerous coaches Ive encountered have made me feel like family. It took me a while to find which time slot best suited my life commitments as a father, husband, and self-employed entrepreneur. But once I found the 6:15 AM class, I knew I was in the right place and surrounded by other wonderful hardworking people who only cared about motivating each other and not making anyone feel like an outsider.
