1 /5 Maggie Ondek: I have been a member of the Wilkes-Barre branch for 22 yrs. The last few years the staff has changed & not for the better. Today, 2/28/24, I went to the bank & the teller, Lisa was condescending & rude. I went there to cash a check from my employer, a local business. Lisa told me she had to put a 3 day hold on it. I asked how I could get it cashed, she said she would have to ask her manager & I asked that she do this. After almost 10 mins in the managers office, she came out to tell me her manager said she couldnt cash it. I asked her how much money I would need in the account to get the amount I required & she said "The amount required, duh". Lisa then told me I could go to the bank the check was written from & get it cashed there. I looked at the clock & stated "I have 3 mins to get there before they close. Do you think Ill make it?" She just smiled. I then asked Lisa how I could go about closing my accounts from this bank & she proceeded to tell me I could only close my checking account because I have a home equity & personal loan through the bank, she then smiled & stated thats a shame, the other 2 tellers thought she was funny & giggled as she was so rude towards me. This is not the first, second or third occasion that I have been to this branch & this same teller has not only been rude, nasty or mean to me but I have witnessed her act the same way towards others. The entire banking staff in this branch are horrible. The loan department staff are so kind, helpful & understanding. If I could do my banking with them I would. I have recently started going out of my way, 20 mins, to go to the Plains branch where the banking staff there are super friendly & energetic. All I ask is that you do better in training your staff how to treat their customer because it is our money in your bank.
